low-enddigitalsignalprocessingapplicationshas

becomemorecommonplacethesedayswiththeavail-

abilityofhigherspeedprocessors.Sincemostsignal

processingsystemsconsistofahostprocessorand

dedicatedDSPchip,theuseofasinglemicrocontroller

toperformboththesefunctionsprovidesasimplerand

lowercostsolution.Inaddition,thesinglechipdesign

willconsumelesspowerwhichisidealforbattery

poweredapplications.ThePIC16C74withitson-chip

A/D,PWMmodule,andfastCPUisanidealcandidate

foruseintheselow-bandwidthsignalprocessing

applications.

AtypicalsignalprocessingsystemincludesanA/D

converter,D/Aconverter,andCPUthatperformsthe
