Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) represents the best opportunity companies currently have to align their IT resources and business processes and make their systems more agile. There has been a lot of talk about SOA and many different definitions have been proposed. In essence, SOA is an architectural approach that seeks to align business processes with service protocols and the underlying software components and legacy applications that implement them.
