HPE OmniStack, from HPE SimpliVity, is a converged server and storage solution. It provides: • High availability • Scalability • Efficient disaster protection • Global unified management Each HPE OmniStack host has a dedicated virtual machine called the Virtual Controller. The Virtual Controller runs: • HPE OmniStack software • HPE SimpliVity vStorage APIs for Array Integration (VAAI)-network-attached storage (NAS) plug-in Once you deploy HPE OmniStack hosts, you can identify the Virtual Controller in the list of virtual machines by the default name that starts with "OmniStackVC." To enable key functionality such as high availability, dynamic resource sharing, and efficient data movement, you should deploy HPE OmniStack hosts in sets of two within a cluster. As capacity and performance needs increase, you can add more HPE OmniStack hosts without disruption to users. This network of hosts is called an HPE SimpliVity federation. Once you deploy HPE OmniStack hosts to a cluster, you can manage them and their related virtual objects using HPE SimpliVity Plug-in for vSphere Web Client.
